"Being Strong" with John Bower
Show Notes

John Bower is a Personal Trainer and HR Manager at FLEX Fitness, an Executive Coach and an expert in Leadership Talent Development.  His motivation to become a personal trainer arose from his desire to be able to keep up with his teenage sons. At the age of 54 John broke his leg wakeboarding, and up until that point he had never gone to the gym. He discovered at 54 he was no where near as strong as he used to be the previous time he suffered a broken leg at 30.  The broken leg was a blessing in disguise. Strength had become an issue in his life. John tells this story in the podcast.

Being strong has many benefits and John goes into detail on the benefits in the podcast.  improving bone density, blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and protecting against falls. Strength is one of the most critical components of wellness, whose importance only increases as we get older.  John classifies himself as a nerd and really enjoys staying abreast of the latest findings in the scientific literature. He applies his extensive science-based knowledge of the fundamentals to assist his clients to become stronger and healthier.
